Luke Kempen, Director
Luke Kempen is the director of the Wisconsin SBDC at UW-Eau Claire. He previously held a consultant position with the SBDC. His work experience prior to joining the SBDC includes a position in the audit division of a large international public accounting firm in Milwaukee as well as serving in senior leadership roles in some fast growing private companies in Eau Claire. Kempen’s experience as an entrepreneur comes from starting and growing a company and then selling it profitably. He possesses extensive business experience in the areas of finance and accounting, leadership, strategic planning, project management and human resources. He also has direct experience with business startup, marketing, business planning and business sale/transition. A certified public accountant, Kempen holds a BBA in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and is a graduate of the Executive Leadership Development Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is currently pursuing an MBA degree at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
David Kochendorfer, Consultant
David Kochendorfer brings 30 years of experience in small, mid-size and large manufacturing companies to his work with the SBDC. During his five years as CEO of a manufacturing company prior to joining the SBDC, he increased company market share by 22% while the overall industry market declined 80%. With a degree in Industrial Technology, Kochendorfer has worked in a variety of roles including product development, process engineering, sales and marketing management and VP of operations.
Kochendorfer’s philosophy and leadership has been recognized in articles published in Wood Window and Door and Enterprise Minnesota. He has also volunteered his time for Junior Achievement, The Wausau Manufactures Executive Steering Committee and coached youth football, baseball and basketball. Kochendorfer holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technology from UW Stout, a Micro MBA from St. Thomas University and has completed several continuing education classes through the University of Michigan. He also holds certifications in Lean and TOC (The Theory of Constraints).
